Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be raised about his position following a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Response

Slot highlighted familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
