Grief as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.

A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation struggling with entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was accosted by a trio of assailants, one of whom shot at him before fleeing on foot.

The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no one has been arrested are in custody, as per the official statement.

How It Happened

Authorities revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a location near the Carlton Centre.

He had spent several hours at the property overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, as per local media.

"It is alleged the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," an official report stated.

CCTV footage showed a man with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what appeared to be a security uniform opening fire on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed a short distance away.

Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the assault.

Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were recovered from the location.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.

"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the shooting, and officers have been following their trail to establish their destination," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.

"I am in shock. I cannot express the pain," she said.
"Everyone understood he was a champion for numerous individuals. He spoke out bravely about subjects not many people were willing to discuss. This is a devastating blow."

She urged the public to refrain from sharing explicit content from the incident, explaining this was an deeply traumatic time, especially for Stock's young family.

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that aired on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.

A broadcasting director said that "Stock was more than just a TV personality. He was a skilled narrator, a passionate music lover and a generous spirit who brought excitement and dynamism to every appearance. His artistic passion left an indefinable mark."

In a release, the channel he worked for declared Stock was known for his magnetism, kindness and sharp wit, adding that his influence "will endure".
