Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”

This update on his health comes as the global fight fans shared its support for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
